You will connect with Susan Otieno, Country Director ActionAid Kenya, Alisandra Lei Escobar, Project Officer ActionAid Philippines, and Flora Vano, Country Director ActionAid Vanuatu, inspiring women leaders who will discuss how they support women in their respective communities.

Meet the speakers:

Susan Otieno – Executive Director, ActionAid International Kenya

Susan is a Kenyan, the Executive Director of ActionAid International Kenya and has led the development of different strategies in Kenya that has seen women-led approaches to respond to emergencies and accountability in emergencies. She is currently a Board member at CHS Alliance and was formerly board member of Kenya Climate Innovations Centre.

Alisandra Lei Escobar, Project Officer at Pambansang Konggreso ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan also known as the National Rural Women Congress, the Philippines

Lei Escobar – Project Officer, Pambansang Koalisyon ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan (PKKK) also known as the National Rural Women Coalition

Lei works together with rural women leaders in the Philippines to realize women-led and gender responsive resilient communities and to claim and defend women’s rights and other vulnerable sectors in emergencies, disaster, and conflict situations.

Flora Vano – Country Manager, ActionAid Vanuatu

Flora Vano is a Ni-Vanuatu woman leading ActionAid’s women-led localised response to COVID-19 in Vanuatu. Starting with ActionAid in 2017 following tropical Cyclone Pam, she has extensive experience working in emergency response and advancing women’s rights in the Pacific nation.
