Women for Climate Justice: Storytelling Night Ft. Special Guests
Sydneysiders, come along on Tuesday 20 November for a unique opportunity to hear from women on the frontlines of the fight for climate and environmental justice around the world.
From South Africa to Papua New Guinea to Australia – it is women and their communities who bear the brunt of the environmental and human rights impacts brought on by fossil fuel projects.
Two women facing concerning impacts from an Australian-run coal mine in South Africa, Mam Nonhlanhla Lorraine Mvubelo and Millicent Nomfundo Shungube, will be in Sydney 20 November to share their stories at an event in partnership with Jubilee Australia. They will also be joined by Dr. Ruth Saovana Spriggs, a Bougainvillean academic, researcher and activist, who has been outspoken on the impacts of large-scale Extractive Industry Projects on women in PNG.
We’ll be screening a short film about the impacts of the extractives industry in PNG and you’ll hear directly from international guests about their work to hold Australian fossil fuel companies to account for their operations overseas.
Beverages will be provided, with a delicious dinner available by donation.
Come listen, enjoy, and take action.
