Clare has worked in communications within Australia and overseas, most recently in the Pacific, where she has spent the past year working alongside NGOs in a communications and community outreach capacity. Clare believes in the inherent dignity of all persons, and is committed to advancing women’s rights and sharing powerful stories of women around the world through the written word, photography and film.

Michelle Higelin is the Executive Director of ActionAid Australia and has led the organisation's international programs and policy work for the past three and half years. She has over 20 years of experience working to advance women's rights in Australia and internationally, including as the Deputy General Secretary of the World YWCA, one of the world's largest women's movements.
Lucy Manne is the Head of Policy and Campaigns at ActionAid Australia. She has been a campaigner for climate justice for many years, including roles at the Wilderness Society, Climate Action Network Australia, and as Co-Director of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. During her time at the AYCC she was awarded the Prime Minister’s Young Environmentalist of the Year award for her work empowering young Australians to lead climate justice campaigns.
Dr Sally Henderson is the International Programs Manager at ActionAid Australia. She is an ecofeminist and extremely passionate about women smallholder farmers, whom she believes hold the key to global food production. Sally holds a degree in agriculture science and a PhD in tropical plant sciences. Sally’s career has seen her live in various countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, working with men and women farmers.
Carol is the Humanitarian Program Manager for ActionAid Australia. Carol has over 15 years’ experience working directly with communities and women’s rights movements on projects addressing violence against women and promoting women’s access to justice in conflict and post conflict zones. Her experience spans countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central and South Asia.
Launched by ActionAid Australia, Arise is the first global fund directly supporting women-led emergency preparedness and response with a long term, transformative agenda.
The Arise Leadership Circle encompasses women leaders from a variety of backgrounds. It exists to drive the objectives of the Arise Fund and meet the visionary target of empowering 1 million women by 2023.
