Tell Albanese: Increase Australia's climate finance now!

Everyone deserves to live in a safe, healthy environment free from climate disaster. 

Low-income countries are bearing the brunt of the climate crisis, despite contributing very little to climate change. We are seeing this right now with the devastating floods in Pakistan and the drought-induced hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa.  

This is because wealthy countries like Australia are continuing to fuel the climate disaster by pumping money into climate-wrecking coal and fossil fuel subsidies! 

We must demand that the PM Anthony Albanese divert these funds away from dirty fossil fuels and instead increase our climate finance immediately to $3 billion across 2020-2025. 

As one of the largest exporters of climate-wrecking coal and gas, Australia has massively contributed to this crisis. So we need to lift our game on climate finance – this is the financial assistance provided to low-income countries to respond to climate disasters. 

Australia is currently contributing well below our fair share of international climate finance. Meanwhile, the Federal Government allocated $10.5 billion in subsidies to fossil fuel industries and fossil fuel consumption in the 2021-22 financial year! 

We must act now to demand fair climate finance! Email the Prime Minister Albanese to demand that Australia immediately increase its climate finance to $3 billion over 2020-2025.
