With my husband, things were really dangerous for me. I couldn’t even step out to the toilet without being followed. My mum was so worried about me.” – Talat, 28, India

Levels of violence against women have seen a staggering increase as coronavirus spreads, wreaking havoc on livelihoods and economies.

Lockdown orders designed to keep us safe from coronavirus are trapping women, like Talat, at home with their abusers. Putting them at risk of serious violence or even murder.

Talat was able to get help from ActionAid’s Gauravi Crisis Centre. Safe spaces like Gauravi, help women escaping violence to get advice, heal from trauma, learn new skills to equip them to earn a living.

We’re seeing an increased demand for our services all over the world as government funding dries up. We urgently need your support to make sure no woman gets left behind.

Please donate today so we can keep women safe from violence.
