UN Women has declared that the theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is March Forward: For All Women and Girls. This year’s theme reminds us that we all must march forward and take strong action to create a gender equal future.
2025 should be a moment where we are celebrating progress, but instead we are in the midst of the largest setback to women’s rights globally.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – the most widely accepted global agenda for the empowerment of women. 2025 will be an important year to reflect on the progress that we have made in the past 30 years, and how much more we need to do to achieve gender equality.
International Women’s Day is more than a day of celebration—it’s an annual reminder of the work that we all need to do to help achieve gender equality, support women’s rights, and create a future where all women are free from violence and discrimination.
For millions of women on the frontlines of injustice around the world, our solidarity and action is more important than ever.
We encourage you to dig a bit deeper this International Women’s Day, and take strong action in solidarity with women.
