About
According to the World Risk Index (2023), Indonesia is the second most at-risk country globally in terms of climate disasters. This project, initiated in 2023 in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, aims to strengthen women’s and young people’s leadership for inclusive climate justice. The initiative will develop Women and Child-Friendly Village Models in Lape and Sepe Villages in Poso District, Central Sulawesi. Through this project, community resilience to the impacts of climate change will be enhanced by integrating disaster management strategies, local wisdom, and sustainable ecology into climate justice. This integration will be achieved through the leadership of women, young people, and people with disabilities.
Impact
The project will empower women and young people to lead inclusive livelihood innovations adapted to disaster risk and climate change. Community-based protection, led by women and young people will be integrated into community structures, enhancing resilience. Inclusive climate change and disaster preparedness plans will be established at family, village, and district levels, driven by women and young leaders. The project will strengthen community resilience, promote gender equality, and ensure sustainable, inclusive responses to climate crises and disasters.
The project is currently in phase one, and its impact will be updated as it progresses.
