ActionAid marches across Sydney Harbour Bridge in solidarity with Gaza

ActionAid Australia staff joined 100,000 Australians to march over the Sydney Harbour Bridge in solidarity with Gaza on Sunday. This collective action was a powerful way to send a message to the Australian Government that words are not enough. We need action, including sanctions, to ensure the safe and independent delivery of humanitarian relief, to achieve a permanent ceasefire and a political solution that ends Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.

Every day without action means more lives lost. Starvation, malnutrition and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths. Across almost the entire Gaza Strip, food consumption is so low that it’s reached famine thresholds.

Reported deaths from starvation are now in the hundreds, and we are hearing news that some of our ActionAid team and partners in Gaza are dizzy from hunger, struggling to feed their children a single meal a day. We are witnessing the deliberate starvation of an entire population, and we are demanding immediate action.

Show your solidarity with people in Gaza by adding your name to our open letter to the Prime Minister, asking him to take action. You can also donate to our Gaza Crisis Appeal, to help us deliver humanitarian relief to Palestinian women and their families.
