Join the conversation: Ending the debt crisis for women
Join us in an online conversation on Monday 7 September, 6-7pm AEST with three global experts on debt and development – Lidy Nacpil, Dr. Claire Slatter, and ActionAid’s own Wangari Kinoti.
Low-income countries urgently need funds to respond to COVID-19, but they’re facing a debt crisis. Mounting debt is forcing them to divert funding away from essential public services like healthcare, so they can pay off debts to other governments and international financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
And women and girls pay the price when public services fall short.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
We can put bold solutions on the table to reset our global economy. Bold and just solutions that put people above profit and advance the rights of women living in poverty and exclusion. And we can start by ending the debt crisis.
On Monday 7 September, 6-7pm AEST, we’ll discuss online how the debt crisis is an issue for women and how we can urgently resolve it so that countries can respond to COVID-19, save lives, and advance gender equality and human rights.
