After a forced hiatus in 2020, Frocking Hilarious made it’s return to the big stage in May, with a line up of fiercely funny women. ActionAid Australia partnered with the Sydney Comedy Festival to produce the all-women comedy extravaganza that raised an incredible $16,000 for women leaders around the world.
“Frocking Hilarious is one of my favourite gigs of the year because there are always so many great comedians involved, it’s an absolute frenzy of quality catch-ups backstage. And the vibe from the audience is beautiful,” said the night’s MC, ActionAid Ambassador Claire Hooper.
This year the show featured some of Australia’s best known comedians and rising stars. All standing up for women’s rights:
- Judith Lucy
- Claire Hooper (MC)
- Chris Ryan
- Rebecca de Unamuno
- Floyd Alexander-Hunt
- Bec Charlwood
- Cassie Workman
- Demi Lardner
- Nina Oyama
- Danielle Walker
Frocking Hilarious isn’t just about having a laugh; it’s also about raising funds to support women around the world to rise up and claim their rights. Over the last year, we’ve seen women lead their community through a global health crisis, climate change related emergencies, and rising levels of gender-based violence.
Led by ActionAid Ambassadors Judith Lucy and Claire Hooper, the night was a terrific success, raising awareness and money to support women’s leadership around the world. All proceeds from Frocking Hilarious go to ActionAid Australia and will support women standing together to campaign against injustice.
Missed out? After a sell out show in 2020, Frocking Hilarious is returning to the Brisbane Comedy Festival at 4pm on Sunday 7 August at the Powerhouse Theatre. Get your tickets here and keep up to date on all Frocking Hilarious news on our Facebook page.
