As part of the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP), the project aims to facilitate diverse local women’s leadership and collective agency in building resilient communities from the impacts of disasters, climate change and COVID -19 ensuring women safety, dignity and rights are part of this commitment.

Duration: 2022 – 2027

Impact

The initial phase of the Disaster Ready project has focused on enhancing diverse women’s leadership in Disaster Risk Management and Comprehensive Protection Programming in Tanna, Erromango, and Eton. Since April 2020, the project has expanded to two additional locations, Malo and Malekula. After two years, the project’s scope has broadened to include readiness for Climate related crises to foster a more comprehensive approach to developing resilience of women and their communities.
