About

This project, developed through a collaboration between WITTT Sunshine and Vanuatu Disability Promotion and Advocacy, aims to enhance the safety, security, and livelihoods of women with disabilities. WITTT Sunshine, a disability platform within a larger Ni-Vanuatu women-led network of 9,000 members across five islands, seeks support to strengthen its capacity for organising and mobilising its 600 members. The initiative’s primary goal is to empower women with disabilities to assert their rights and improve their livelihoods.

Impact

By 2025, the project will have a transformative impact on women with disabilities in the WITTT Sunshine Chapter. Women will achieve financial independence by running successful businesses through economic hubs across five islands. They will also lead the development of protection action plans and referral mechanisms, ensuring their safety and dignity during crises. Furthermore, they will spearhead gender-responsive and inclusive approaches to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, significantly enhancing their role and influence in their communities.

Project duration: 2024 – 2025
