Australia shouldn’t join an illegal war
The United States and Israel’s illegal attacks on Iran and Lebanon are driving devastation among civilians across the Middle East, with the conflict expanding at shocking speed.
US and Israeli attacks on Iran have killed at least 1200 civilians, including 168 people at a girls’ primary school and displaced up to 3.2 million people in the first two weeks of the war.
In Lebanon, Israel’s attacks in Southern Lebanon and Beirut have killed over 700 people and displaced over 700,000 people in just the first ten days of war.
The US and Israel’s escalation in the Middle East comes after Israel has already been found by an independent UN Commission to have committed genocide and widespread violations of international law in Gaza.
Australia was the first country to support the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran.
Now, by sending military assistance to the Middle East, our government risks being complicit in an illegal war that is having a devastating impact on women and their families.
At this moment, Australia should be a strong voice for peace, diplomacy and respect for international law.
Our government should not support wars that violate international law.
Join us and call for Australia to withdraw its support for military engagement in the region, and to push for an urgent ceasefire and de-escalation of the conflict between all parties in the Middle East.
