Millicent
Millicent survived a horrific acid attack which left her blind in one eye. She received ongoing assistance at an ActionAid protection center, where she was supported to claim justice and see her husband go to jail for 6 years.
In Uganda, more than half of all women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.
Women have no right to inherit land, they’re often excluded from decision making, and left without the ability to earn an income to support themselves or their children – making it difficult to be independent and leave a violent partner.
Will you make an urgent donation and help end violence against women?

Agnes was sixteen when she was attacked and raped by two men. She stayed at a protection centre where she received counselling and help to report her attack to the police.
Harriet experienced 14 years of beatings and abuse from her husband. But she never gave up hope of a better life, and found support through one of ActionAid’s protection centres. After taking part in ActionAid’s livelihoods training programme, she started her own business and became a national trainer, teaching over 22,000 girls across the country to make sanitary pads so they can still go to school when they get their periods.
ActionAid Women Protection Centres are providing women with both immediate and long term solutions to combat violence.
