Bring along your pre-loved unwanted clothing, update your wardrobe, and support women’s rights!
On Thursday 9th May, from 10am – 2pm, ActionAid UQ is hosting a Suitcase Jumble Sale at the Grassy Knoll Pergola. All sales will be $5 or under!
The Australian fashion industry rakes in an estimated annual revenue of $19 billion. But the majority of the people who work in this industry – women and girls – do not have access to decent work conditions or public services, and many live in poverty. Around the world, three quarters of the estimated 60-75 million people working in the textile, clothing and footwear industries, are women and girls.
By joining our jumble sale, ActionAid UQ is inviting you to help change this by participating in a fundraising event that combines thrift fashion with intersectional feminism!
All monetary donations will be divided between ActionAid’s work (advocating for women’s rights, global focus on eradicating economic inequality) and a local Brisbane women’s shelter. Any clothing not sold will also be donated to the shelter.
When: Thursday 9 May, 10am-2pm
Where: UQ Grassy Knoll, Campbell Rd., St Lucia 4067
