The organisation

ActionAid Australia is part of a federation working in over 70 countries to advance women’s rights and end poverty and injustice. After decades of progress on women’s rights, the world is witnessing the largest setback to gender equality in history. The climate crisis, which is fuelling increased disasters and conflict, is a major driver of these setbacks, exacerbating existing gender inequalities.

Building on decades of work at the intersection of gender equality and climate justice, under ActionAid’s new strategy, Women’s Leadership for Climate Justice we support women on the frontlines of injustice overseas and campaign in Australia to advance climate justice for women. ActionAid works to shift government policy and corporate practice that undermine the rights of women living in poverty.

The role

ActionAid Australia is seeking a dynamic Policy and Campaigns Coordinator to support the implementation of ActionAid’s advocacy and campaigns on climate and gender justice. Reporting to the Head of Campaigns and Policy, this role would suit an all-rounder who can work across all aspects of advocacy and campaigning work from developing content for digital campaigns, to coordinating ActionAid’s Activist Network and conducting policy analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but effective team that is driving critical social change for women’s rights and global justice.

  • Coordinating the delivery of Activist Network trainings;
  • Supporting office-based Activist Support Volunteer to recruit and induct new activists;
  • Maintaining activist database, tracking actions, reporting, and evaluation.

Policy and research:

  • Supporting the development of policy and research products by undertaking desktop research, literature reviews and policy analysis;
  • Collecting, collating and analysing information from ActionAid’s international programmes and reports to inform policy and advocacy;
  • Supporting the translation of ActionAid research into advocacy and communications materials.

Other:
