2017 saw unprecedented crises around the globe.
These included one of the worst famines in Africa’s history, the mass exodus of the Rohingya people from Myanmar to neighbouring Bangladesh, and devastating floods in South Asia that destroyed homes and livelihoods belonging to millions of people. In response, ActionAid Australia made a bold and ambitious commitment to scale up resources to support women leading crisis response through the Arise Fund, which we launched in August.
2017 also marked the launch of ActionAid Australia’s new strategy, Women’s Leadership for Global Justice, which puts the voices of the women we work with at the heart of our agenda.
