Entire communities have suffered massive infrastructure damage, with homes, markets, government buildings, bridges, police posts, customs facilities, and vehicles swept away. Humanitarian organisations on the ground are warning of a rapidly deteriorating crisis.
ActionAid Nepal is working alongside local authorities to coordinate an emergency response and deliver aid to hard-to-reach areas, ensuring no one gets left behind. Additionally, because women face increased risks to their health, safety and security during emergencies, a focus of ActionAid’s emergency response will be to support the leadership of local women in affected communities to ensure the needs of women and girls, along with people with disability and the elderly, are met.
