About the volunteer position
The Activist Outreach Volunteer works with our Activist Network and campaigns team members. Their focus is to bring new volunteers into the organisation that helps grow our Sydney and Melbourne activist groups, and for our new activists to have an overall positive experience. This role may have other duties as required, such as helping organise activist events and/or trainings. The volunteer will get the opportunity to be exposed to ActionAid’s grassroots and campaigns work, and gain skills in areas such as community organising, engagement, volunteer support, and feminist leadership.
The organisation
ActionAid Australia is part of a federation working in over 70 countries to advance women’s rights and end poverty and injustice. We support women on the frontlines of injustice overseas and campaigns in Australia to advance climate justice for women and gender equality, working to shift government policy and corporate practice that undermine the rights of people living in poverty.
ActionAid Australia’s main office is based in Wynyard, Sydney, a five-minute walk from Wynyard Station. We also have a small team based in Melbourne, co-located with other NGOs in Fitzroy. There is the option to do this role remotely from a different location.

- Creating pathways between interested volunteers and our activist network, including conducting inductions and facilitating handover between new volunteers and activist leaders.

- Maintaining ActionAid’s volunteer inbox.
- Conducting regular check ins with new activists to support their ongoing engagement.
