This year we’ve watched crisis after crisis unfold. Women working in informal or casual jobs have faced the worst impacts of COVID-19 lockdowns with no income or social protection. They took on increased caring responsibilities in the home as schools’ shutdown and sadly for many, violence in the home increased. Climate change compounded these challenges, bringing cyclones of increased intensity and impact.

But in the Pacific young women are rising to the challenge, leading their communities through crisis towards a brighter future for everyone.

We invite you to join us a dynamic and interactive event where young women in the Pacific share their hopes and dreams for a better future, and how young women’s leadership is making a difference. Join us for ‘Pacific Young Women: Hopes for 2021’ virtual event at 10am (AEDT) Wednesday 2 December as we reflect on the year that was and explore our hopes for the future.

Moderated by ActionAid Australia’s Digital Campaigner Ezreena Yahya, we’ll be joined by Ramona Tugaga, Young Women’s Christian Association General Secretary Samoa, Sabrina Brown, CEO Vanuatu Young Women for Change, Helena Seneka from YWCA PNG and Lucille Chute,Transcend Oceania/GPPAC Pacific.

Join the conversation here at 10am AEDT!
