Every degree deepens inequality

With every degree of global increase in global temperatures, women are the ones paying the biggest price. But the good news is that every climate action we take can help turn that tide.

Every big polluter that pays for its damage means fewer women going hungry due to climate induced drought and famine. Every bank that stops investing in fossil fuels means fewer women face domestic violence from the stress that comes when climate catastrophes strike. Every time a rich, polluting country starts paying its fair share, fewer women will lose their livelihoods as climate disasters wipe out crops.

We know who is responsible, and we know what every action can mean. There are already millions of women around the world leading climate action in their communities despite all the odds, and we need to get behind them.

The more of us there are, the more we can do. The more impact we make in women’s lives.

Every climate action empowers women.

WOMEN-LED CLIMATE ACTION

Ruth Matheka has felt the devastating impacts of climate change, struggling to grow crops in her community in Kenya. But after training in agroecology and pasture management, she developed the knowledge and techniques to adapt to changing climate conditions. She is now an empowered leader and trains other women in her community.

OUR FEMINIST CLIMATE JUSTICE AGENDA

ActionAid Australia's Feminist Climate Justice Agenda drives systems change for women and the climate, strengthens the power of women leading climate action, and builds resources for feminist climate solutions.
